A message from the GBACG President

Hello All,

It is nearing the end of March, and we have experienced some unprecedented times to say the least. Two months ago, we had our wonderful open house, surrounded by so many friends. Within the last two months, COVID-19 has become a very real presence in all of our daily lives.

I wish I could be writing to you now about lace insertion, or an upcoming event that we are doing. But the fact of the matter is that we must address the next few months in relation to COVID-19. As of March 19th, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Executive Order N-33-20, declaring a state of emergency and a statewide shelter in place order. As of yet, there is no “end-date” in sight for this order. We are closely monitoring the situation, and are making the difficult decision to cancel our events from now until May 31st.

Our floral crown workshop is moving to a digital format to enable us to create crowns together. Registered attendees will be refunded. Stay tuned for more details on the floral crown virtual workshop.

The Goes to Derby event has been postponed, as with the actual Kentucky Derby, to September 5th. This depends on Golden Gate Fields rescheduling their events.

As for our June event, The Wedding of Titania & Oberon, we are working with the venue to reschedule the event, stay tuned for more information on this as we make changes.

These are not easy decisions to make, but with the understanding that we all must do our part to flatten the curve. Rescheduling events is all limited based on the uncertain progression of COVID-19. For the time being, stay safe, break into the good craft supplies, and make something beautiful.

Thank you, Frances Lopez
